(post by Kathy Hussey)

After a summer of workshops and concerts, and the release of my new album, I am very excited to get back in the classroom with Kid Pan Alley and write some songs with all those amazing kids!

working on Aesop's Fables

I'm working on my Aesop's Fables for Orchestra and narrator today. It's going to get performed the last two weekends of January at the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center and also at the Maazel's Theatre House in Castleton, VA. it will be on a program with Peter and the Wolf. While it's intimidating being the other piece on a program with such a masterpiece, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Stay tuned for more details.
You can hear a little of it here.

(Paul) I've just returned from teaching songwriting and performing at Hollyhock on Cortes Island, British Columbia and at the Rocky Mountain song school in Lyons, Colorado. The are two of the most beautiful places I've been. And there were some wonderful songs written in my classes. One in particular by Denis Donnelley called Morning Again is haunting me. It's a spectacular song.

We start back with Kid Pan Alley residencies at Burnley-Moran Elementary in Charlottesville the week of September 14th.

I'll be teaching for the NSAI songposium in Nashville on September 22-23.
I'll be teaching Harmony and Chord Substitution, Rhythm and Groove, and Songwriting with Kids.
