Kid Pan Alley Intergenerational Residency at Brownsville ES in Charlottesville

(Paul Reisler)
Terri Allard and I are at Brownsville Elementary in Crozet this week with an intergenerational Kid Pan Alley residency. We brought senior citizens from the Mountainside Home over to the school today. They told stories about growing up in the area to the kids. The kids will write songs about those experiences. Then the kids told stories to the seniors who will write their stories. We've got two concerts at the school at 1:15 and 7 pm on Friday. Admission is free, so come join us to hear all our new songs.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Video from Burnley Moran

(posted by Paul Reisler)
Just finished a week with some wonderful songs at Burnley Moran Elementary School in Charlottesville. Here's a video of one called Listen Real Close.

I am off to Nashville on Monday to teach for the NSAI Songposium on Tuesday and Wednesday. It's not too late to sign up for one of my classes: Harmony and Chord Substitution; Writing Songs with Kids; and Open Tunings for Guitar. As it's an a la carte workshop, you just sign up for what you want.

I'm working on my Aesop's Fables for Orchestra and Narrator this weekend. It's a 25 minute piece that will premiere the end of January at the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center and also at the Maazel's Castleton Theatre House. It's on the bill with Peter and the Wolf, a true masterpiece.
